Frank Gehry Gives M.I.T. Its Newest Experiment

Check out this NYT article on MIT's new Frank Gehry-designed computer science building. I like the way MIT and Gehry are trying to create a space that fosters social interaction and innovation, though interestingly the article says the plain, temporary building this new one replaces has been a hotbed of innovation for decades.

What makes him happy, he said, even more than the whimsical design, the ultramodern laboratories and the natural light pouring through the skylights and huge windows, is that he can retreat to his office for privacy but then emerge to commune with his fellow geeks on the student street and in the other abundant communal spaces."
